True Beauty

Psalm 29:2

Praise the Lord for the glory that belongs to him. Worship the Lord because of his beauty and holiness.

I like to start at the beginning.  I like to get it straight.  So while I don’t plan to preach, I do think it’s important to find the source of beauty, and discuss that, before proceeding to discuss other places where beauty is found.

The bible tells us that God, is holy and beautiful.   Holiness, is attribute of purity, excellence, consecration, and perfection.   Holiness is a captivating beauty.  It is a beauty that calls us to worship the Holy One.

Psalm 85:10 explains, “God’s truth and faithful love join together. His peace and holiness kiss each other”.  God’s perfect love is combined with truth.   We’re not talking about the conditional, situation truth that is popular in society today.  It is not truth because seems right at the moment, or it will give someone power.  It is unadulterated truth.

It is the real truth that sees our faults and failures, and embraces us with love, and teaches us to walk after we fall down.  It is love that empowers us to become the best we can be, or persevere in the worst situations.  It is love, that gives us creative ideas, and love to share with others.  It never makes an error in judgement, and it never fails.   I Corinthians 13 says, “Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not want what belongs to others. It does not brag. It is not proud. It is not rude. It does not not look out for its own interests. It does not easily become angry. It does not keep track of other people’s wrongs.  Love is not happy with evil. But it is full of joy when the truth is spoken. It always protects. It always trusts. It always hopes. It never gives up.

That is the kind of love God has for us.  It is perfect, never-ending love, grounded in truth, faithful until the end….

It is the most perfect and beautiful love that exists.

So today is a call to look to the true source of beauty.  Worship HIM.
