Give thanks to the Lord. Worship him. Tell the nations what he has done.
1 Chronicles 16:7-9
One of the easiest ways to find beauty is to be thankful.
Yes; I think being thankful, and grateful is the key to unlocking beauty. What is there in your life that you have to be thankful for today? Is it a good friend, a sunny day, a great dinner, or good desert? Maybe it’s quiet time, or time to actually get your work done without interruptions, or that you lost 10lbs instead of gaining.
Perhaps, however, it’s been a difficult day, and thankfulness isn’t coming easily.
I have days like that. Days where I’m too tired to think, too tired to care, or those attacking my hopes and dreams seem like they are greater in number than those who support them. I’ve learned, those are the days where it is even more important to take time to be thankful….. thankful for family, friends, and that I do have the things I need to meet my needs. Even when the car breaks down, I can get a ride, or when the heater breaks I have a fireplace.
I think taking time to be thankful changes my heart and my mind, and that in turn seems to affect my body. I relax a little more, solutions start coming to mind, and my stress level goes down. I stop thinking of how to respond to the situations in negative ways, start thinking in positive ways. I physically notice a difference in how I feel. It’s probably as good for my body as it is for my spirit and my heart.
So today, I am thankful for my health, and my home, and my family and friends, and an opportunity to share beauty with you.
What do you have to be thankful for today?
I hope there are many things.
